Mike Bissett, CFP®, Financial Advisor
The path that led Mike Bissett to the Financial Services Industry was a bit…unconventional. A lot of people think Financial Advisors come from some kind of economics or business background. Mike got here following a 16-year radio career.
Radio took Mike all over the country (literally, from BC to Nova Scotia) but he’s been in Northern Ontario since 2006 (starting out in Timmins, then moving south to North Bay in 2011) and jumped to the Financial Services Industry in 2016. After spending a few years in management with Freedom 55 Financial, he stepped back into the Advisor role full time in 2021 to fully dedicate his time to helping his clients and growing his practice. To that end, Mike earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation–the gold standard in the world of finance–in 2022.
On the personal side, he admits to being a pretty big nerd. He has an extensive comic book and Funko Pop collection, and watches more than his share of Sci-Fi. Luckily his wife (who is an absolute SAINT for putting up with his shenanigans) and two daughters share some of those interests!

Alicia McPhee, Administrative Assistant and Bookkeeper/Payroll Administrator
If you had told a younger Alicia McPhee that by her middle age she would be working in North Bay in the financial services industry, she would have laughed politely but harboured some serious doubts. As a military brat, Alicia had the opportunity to see the breadth of North America but never seemed to be able to break the hold of North Bay, where she was deposited after aging out of dependency. In (year redacted for the sake of vanity), she graduated from Nipissing University, having earned a Bachelor of Science with an Honours Specialization in Biology. In the decade that followed, she honed her customer service and administrative skills working as a restaurant manager.
Alicia joined Mike in 2022 as an administration assistant. At Rexford Financial Services, as the resident woman-behind-the-curtain, Alicia’s role is to toil in the background and navigate the paperwork jungle to turn Mike’s, and the clients’, plans into reality. She also counts the beans and divvies them out accordingly.
When she’s not staring at a monitor for work, Alicia can be found staring at a monitor for pleasure, often while gaming or streaming D20 or Critical Role. She also enjoys hiking (in every season) with her problematic pooch, Dogtor Banner.
